A New Beginning

I've decided to begin actively blogging some of my more organized projects. This is the site I will be doing it with. The site, itself, is also a project, so do have patience with me as it begins to take shape, function well, and help me communicate with you all.

I'm not yet sure if I will be doing my personal blogging from here yet, but it seems like, with time, it may come to that. I've enjoyed my LiveJournal for a long time now, almost 7 years. A couple of times, though, I've found that the inability to blend a blog and a richer content site was limiting. In the last few years, I've tried to start a number of new sites to support a few of the things I've tried to translate to an online presence. Two examples would be a site for my writing, and a site to discuss my GPS homebrew project. Both of these would have specific media requirements that a simple blog leaves me wanting.

One of the other reasons I can see to start a more organized site would be to organize ways people can stay in touch with what I'm doing. A single personal journal that mixes everything I've got on my mind is sort of a muddled stream of consciousness to follow. If I'm able to organize my content into categories and different concerns, then someone interested in my writing needn't be bothered with my politics, and someone interested in my difficulties in building a radio needn't be sidetracked by the daily events of my life. Then again, if it's the stream you prefer, that'd be available too.

So yeah. I hereby proclaim The Hitchens Consortium open.
